It was a great experience being able to visit the captivating, breathtaking and exquisite Britania Group of Islets. Though it was not well planned but a colleague of mine named Ryan and I decided to have a trip to Surigao del Sur as our way of responding to an invitation to visit a dear cousin (Ate Liberty). From her lovely house in Prosperidad, we traveled almost two hours to reach the place. We were amazed by the dazzling view of the mountains and the opposite side which is the majestic beaches of Lianga Bay. We were in convoy. I was inside the newly-bought car of my cousin Dong and so it was easy for us reach the place.
Britania is composed of 24 islets and it was named after its barangay located in the municipality of San Agustin in Surigao del Sur. Out of 24 islets, we were only able to encompass a tour of two islets. First stop was in Hagonoy which was the farthest. The islet is surrounded with crystal clear waters because of its pristine white sand. It has a few coconut trees into one side, enough to provide shed under the heat of the sun. Before we reached the islet, we partook our enticing lunch especially the tasty Lechon Baboy sponsored by our kind-hearted ante Flora. The aunt of my cousin.
The experience was indeed amazing in Britania and definitely I will go back if given another chance. I would say that its Surigao del Sur's best kept-secret and something that we Filipinos can be proud of next to Boracy. Thank you to the beautiful people in Surigao whom I knew. Till we meet again po.
